About One Family » FAQ
Q:
Who do we help
A:
OneFamily provides on-going assistance to over 2200 victims of terrorism and their families. This assistance takes the form of financial, material, legal, and emotional assistance, and programs organized to provide social and therapeutic opportunities for the victims and to aid in their recuperation.
Q:
Who is eligible to receive assistance?
A:
OneFamily’s policy is to assist any person who has been victimized by anti-Israel terrorism since September 27, 2000 – the date of the outbreak of the current violence against Israel. All people injured in terror attacks aimed against Israel in that period, regardless of religious affiliation or place of residence, are eligible for such assistance. The vast majority of these victims are Jewish. However, a small number of Druze, Beduin, Israeli Arabs, foreign workers, tourists, and diplomatic personnel have also been killed or injured in such attacks, and are eligible for help from OneFamily.
Q:
How much money has been distributed?
A:
Since the founding of the organization in September 2001, OneFamily has distributed over $12.2 million in assistance and programming for victims of terrorism in Israel. In the past four years, OneFamily has provided financial assistance to over 2350 victims of terrorism and their families. This assistance includes helping pay for medical help, psychological assistance, renovations, and vehicles for the disabled. It also includes helping to pay for family celebrations such as Bar and Bat Mitzvahs and weddings. OneFamily receives requests for assistance daily from victims of terrorism all over Israel. The requests vary according to the needs of each individual victim, and they are treated with the individual attention they each deserve. Every case file contains a written report by OneFamily's contact person with the victim's family, signed reports from a National Insurance Institute case worker or other qualified professionalm, bank statements, and employer salary certification. OneFamily's Allocations Committee discusses requests from branches bi-weekly. When a financial grant is decided upon, a check is prepared at the head office in Jerusalem and delivered by the contact person to the family. When material aid is decided upon, the item is ordered through the head office and delivered from the local branch office. Thus far we have distributed over 12.3 million dollars in cash, goods, and services for victims and their families.
Q:
How do we differ?
A:
OneFamily is the central address for providing comprehensive assistance, on a personal level, to all victims of terrorism in Israel who need it. We provide for victims’ needs on an individual, rather than institutional, basis. Victims receive timely assistance from us without the need for bureaucratic delays. We provide programs and activities to answer all the needs of victims as they progress through their rehabilitation. And we recognize our limits. We are in touch with hospitals, local social welfare departments, and the National Insurance Institute, to ensure that our assistance is going where it is needed most. Many organizations collect money for victims of terror. OneFamily is different. We collect not only money, but all human resources - bringing together people who have suffered through terror attacks, along with caring people who thankfully haven't. We connect people in Israel with people in almost every country around the world. Together we volunteer time and money in order to help families of terror victims in every way. OneFamily works directly with the families, every day of the year. Our organization responds just as any loving family member should. Please join us.

Q:
Is my donation tax-deductible?
A:
All donations to OneFamily are eligable for Gift Aid. Cheques should be made payable to One Family UK and sent to our Head Office in Edgware.
Q:
What percentage of donations is used to cover the operating expenses of the organization?
A:
OneFamily is aware that our mission is to assist victims, and not to build an organizational empire. We have managed to keep our overhead costs to under 5% of all money distributed by the organization. Donations made for specific projects or to assist specific victims are excluded from overhead, and 100% of all such donations go to the intended recipient or project.
